My walk to Queensland

DONATE

Being inspired by all the good people around the world doing amazing things, this year I decided it’s my turn. I decided to open my eyes and stop ignoring the issues around the world and do something about it.

Open your eyes with me and you decide to make a difference as well.

My goal is to walk over 5,000 kms in 100+ days and over this time help some wonderful people like Wendy Tisdell OAM and Dr Matt McLennan to raise funds for important projects.

I want to make sure that each dollar raised has a sustainable impact. Over the next few months the aim is to fully pay for specific projects. I don’t know how much money we will raise, so I am tackling one project at a time…

Project 1

UGANDAN PROJECT

Community water well & Chimpanzee forest preservation

Provide safe drinking water for the village of Kiizi-Wagaisa, Kitoba Sub-county, population of 960. A hand dug well costing around AU$5,500 will benefit over 160 households.

By partnering with communities and providing amenities like clean water, the communities undertake to preserve and regrow forests for the Burundi Chimpanzees.

In this area all natural water sources are heavily polluted by a distilling factory. There is currently one shallow well situated immediately adjacent to a small forest patch used daily by chimpanzees. The presence of chimps sometimes means women and children cannot fetch water. Additionally, many residents walk 1.5–2 km to access this well by the forest.
